Located in Jalan Petrie, The Johor Art Gallery building was built in the year of 1910 and used to be the official residence of the Chief Minister of Johor, Dato’ Abdullah Jaafar. He was the third Chief Minister of Johor then.
The government decided that one way of preserving the unique architecture of the building was to turn it into an art gallery. This art gallery was opened on 29th January 1994 by the Chief Minister of Johor Bahru.
